Dolphin Ring in the Changes

In October 2007, Swindon Swim Squad (Sx3) was formed with the objective of enabling the elite swimmers of Swindon based swimming clubs to compete at the highest possible level. The aim was to achieve this by competing as combined teams in the Southern Junior League, Speedo (now Arena) League and in the South West Regional and National Championships.

Having competed as part of Sx3 throughout 2008 and 2009, the Swindon Dolphin Executive Committee have undertaken a detailed review of Dolphin’s participation and concluded that although being part of the Squad has brought some marginal benefits to a few swimmers, there is no substantial overall benefit to either Swindon Dolphin or the other clubs involved. The view was also taken that there was nothing to be gained in the longer term by continuing with the existing way of working and we were not currently in a position to develop the relationship further.

The decision was therefore taken to withdraw Swindon Dolphin from Sx3, but they hope to continue discussions with all other clubs involved on the vision of having a single club within Swindon.

2010 will therefore see Swindon Dolphin fielding teams for Southern Junior League and Arena League as well as the Wiltshire based Moonraker Summer and Winter Leagues.
