16 year old Sarah Roberts was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma back in November after a lump appeared on her shoulder. Since then the Dolphin Senior Squad swimmer has had two courses of chemotherapy in Oxford.
According to her dad, Keith, ‘Sarah is missing her swimming terribly’ but she is unable to come down to poolside at the moment ‘because of the effect that the treatment has had on her immune system’.
He said she has displayed ‘amazing courage and strength’ and feels that the level of fitness she has developed from swimming has played an ‘important part in her remaining as well as she has so far’.
Mum, Karen, explained that her daughter ‘is still able to attend New College, which she started in September and is loving every minute of it.’
Sarah sends her love and hopes to see everyone soon. Sarah’s squad colleagues convey their very best wishes and everybody at Swindon Dolphin is eager to see her back on poolside in the near future.
